Nvidia, Qualcomm, and MediaTek Unveil AI Processors at Computex 2024
At Computex 2024 this week, industry giants Nvidia, Qualcomm, and MediaTek unveiled their newest advancements, aligning with the show's theme of "connecting AI."

Many of these innovations were notable for their reported AI performance and their potential to enhance the machine-learning capabilities of consumer and handheld devices.
Nvidia’s RTX AI PCs
Leading the announcements, several organizations revealed that their latest AI PCs are powered by Nvidia RTX GPUs. These PCs integrate dedicated AI hardware and software, featuring AI models like Windows Copilot, which unlock new possibilities for the next generation of computing devices.

The new AI PCs utilize Nvidia RTX 4070 laptop GPUs, delivering versatile AI performance of up to 321 TOPS. Additionally, compatibility with the new AMD Ryzen AI 300 series processors introduces low-power, high-efficiency AI processing to next-generation laptops.

Qualcomm also highlighted AI-enabled PCs that leverage its hardware. These AI PCs, equipped with Snapdragon X series processors, offer enhanced AI processing performance.

The Snapdragon X series encompasses several key SoCs designed to enhance spatial and power efficiency by integrating specialized processors for general, graphics, and AI tasks. Qualcomm claims to deliver "unparalleled performance per watt," a critical factor for low-power mobile devices. The first wave of these offerings is expected to launch on June 18, 2024.
AI in Chromebooks and Smart TVs
MediaTek also showcased its latest innovations aimed at high-performance Chromebooks and smart TVs at Computex. Beyond Windows PCs, advanced AI models have applications across various sectors, including automotive, entertainment, and more.

MediaTek's announcement introduced both the Kompanio 838 Chromebook SoC and the Pentonic 800 display SoC. The Kompanio 838, featuring the MediaTek NPU 650, enhances AI efficiency for low-power, long-lasting mobile devices. Additionally, the Pentonic 800 display SoC boasts powerful processing and AI capabilities, enabling AI-driven image enhancement for modern displays.
Expanding AI Access
Modern AI paradigms predominantly rely on centralized computing rather than edge or distributed processing. To enhance AI accessibility for software integration and local usage, developers need to create innovative processing techniques and AI-enabled PCs.
